The Benny Lynch Story by David Carswell (Scottish Tour)

The show tells the story of Scotland's first ever boxing world champion.

A poignant and entertaining look at Benny's life, from his childhood in the Gorbals' slums, to his boxing success and global stardom, and ultimately to his demise and untimely death in 1946 at the age of only 33.

It doesn't matter if you're not a boxing fan. This show is about the extraordinary life of a Scottish icon. It is the ultimate rags to riches to rags story.

STEPHEN PURDON (Shellsuit Bob from River City) plays Benny, while DAVID HAYMAN (Scottish acting legend) takes on the role of his coach and mentor, Sammy Wilson. HOLLY JACK (River City) plays Benny's wife, while SIMON WEIR (High Road, River City, Taggart, Acid House, Trainspotting 2) plays Tash the Gorbals' sage.

Directed by DAVID HAYMAN Jnr.
