2011/2012 Mentees Announced!

Playwrights' Studio, Scotland are delighted to announce that our successful mentees for 2011/12 are: Ali Maloney, Julie Tsang, Kris Haddow, Lindsay Miller, Phil Baarda and Chantelle Higham, who will be mentored by: Paddy Cunneen, Isabel Wright and Douglas Maxwell.
Every year the Playwrights’ Studio offers an opportunity for new playwrights to be mentored by established playwrights. This is an amazing chance to improve your writing skills and gain valuable insights into the playwriting process.
Details of the 2012/13 Mentoring programme will be announced in spring 2012.
Eligible Applicants
You should be an emerging playwright, living in Scotland or from Scotland and living elsewhere, with a particular play you hope to develop during your mentoring time. You do not need to have been produced in order to qualify.
You should be available from October 2012 for six months to work on your script regularly. Mentees will be matched with a mentor in September and will remain in communication with this mentor over the six month working period.
Comments from Former Mentees:
"I learnt a great deal. To read my own work from a greater distance. To allow my writing to connect not just to the audience, but firstly to the performers and the director."
"It was pivotal in helping me develop the piece. The generosity and encouragemnt of [my mentor] in pointing out areas for improvement, and also sharing his own experiences as an established writer were invaluable"
"[My mentor] has been great to work with. So enthusiastic and encouraging and honest. To have that level of expertise and insight available has changed the way I work. Thank you."
