Isabel Wright

Isabel Wright is a playwright and screenwriter based in Edinburgh. Her stageplays have received productions and performed readings in Scotland and across the rest of the UK, and have received subsequent performances and readings in translation internationally. Her plays include Speedrun (Tron), Blooded (Boilerhouse),  Peepshow (Frantic Assembly), Gilt (7-84), Mr Placebo and 15 Seconds (translation) (Traverse). She recently contributed to Whatever Gets You Through the Night (Pachamama). Recent productions also include Blind Eye for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and The Illicit Dark, for the Stephen Joseph Theatre. Her commission for the Scottish Ensemble, a collaboration of string music and performance for primary school age children toured in Spring 2015. Her recent screenwriting work includes being part of team writing for 'Ooglies', an animation for (Kolik Films/CBBC). She worked as a scriptreader and playwriting mentor on numerous occasions. She also has considerable experience as a workshop leader, leading drama and creative writing workshops with young people and adults in a variety of school and community settings including for the Traverse, Scottish Youth Theatre, and the National Theatre's New Views project.
