Phil Baarda

Phil is a playwright and theatre maker based in the Highlands, and is the creative director of Mangonel theatre - which produces exciting new work by emerging artists.

His play The Rhum Plants was originally drafted through the Playwrights' Studio mentoring scheme with Douglas Maxwell, and had a full run at EdFringe 2015 with a follow up tour in the Highlands.  His play Gerry and the Glasshouse  was commissioned through PlayPieces in August 2013.  His radio play The Fault is due for forthcoming broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland.

He also leads the Inverness Playwrights - a group of drama writers of all kinds who get together weekly to read and discuss each other's work in progress, and to host workshops and rehearsed readings.
