Zoe Barrett

Zoe is a Glasgow based playwright and performer who studied Drama and Performance at Queen Margaret University. During this time they wrote various short plays including A Year for Change? which they directed as part of a fund raising event. Zoe also wrote Small Things and Embellished before graduating with honours in 2013.

In 2015 Zoe wrote the short piece Bound and later that year assisted with the early setup of the RED Women's Theatre Award, a female authored playwrights' award which debuted at Greenwich Theatre, London in March 2016.

Zoe directed a rehearsed reading of The Philosopher (Fu) kings  written by Glaswegian playwright Nelly Kelly at the James Arnott Theatre, Glasgow in 2016 and was also a guest at the University of Glasgow Postgraduate Scratch Night with the students of the MLitt Playwriting and Dramaturgy course to read and discuss work in progress.

Zoe wrote Patient while being mentored by Alan McKendrick for the Playwrights' Studio, Scotland Mentoring Programme 2015/16 and was also shortlisted for their New Playwrights' Award 2016/17.

Zoe is currently working on a contemporary performance collaboration with Nelly Kelly.
