Update from Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland on Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Following our statement  in January 2021, Playwrights' Studio, Scotland would like to update you on our position.

Office closure
Whilst Scotland has moved beyond Level 0 restrictions, Playwrights' Studio are taking a phased approach in our return to in-person activity. Within Scottish Government guidelines, of course.

At the present time, the Playwrights' Studio office remains closed to the public. As does The Space, The Tom McGrath Writers' Room and the Plays Library. Y ou can still access The Space Online to hold meetings or conduct script development workshops.

Please bear with us and we'll keep you updated as things become clearer.

Contacting us
We want to assure you that we are still available on e-mail should you need to contact us. The main email for enquiries is info@playwrightsstudio.co.uk, other emails are listed on the website. We can now arrange meeting in person (if appropriate) and we will continue conducting meetings via phone or video call.

Using our Services
Our National Script Reading Service is still open for submissions.

Impact on our Programmes
We're keen, like the rest of the sector, to be back working in person. At present, we are prioritising online methods where it is not to the detriment of the work for the overall safety, health and ongoing sustainability of the wider network of artists we work with.

We are happy to arrange activity in-person where there is a specific reason why it cannot happen online and there is a process in place by which this can requested and discussed with staff.

Where to find updates
We will continue to monitor and review the situation and respond as best as we can to official advice from the UK and Scottish Governments as we move through this new phase .

We will continue to keep you updated via the homepage of our website, through our  e-news and on Twitter and Facebook.

Creative Scotland's Open Fund for Individualssupports the wide range of activity initiated by artists, writers, producers and other creative practitioners in Scotland. Funding of between £500 and £100,000 is available.

We suggest keeping an eye on Creative Scotland and the Federation of Scottish Theatre's digital channels for more general updates for the arts sector.
