We are delighted to be back at the Traverse Theatre foyer with our pop-up Bookshop and Information Point.

We’re open 12pm-7pm, Wednesday to Sunday during the festival, selling plays by Scotland’s playwrights, new work from the Fringe and beyond alongside some classic texts and recent releases. Come along, have a browse and say hi!

Our Bookshop includes a dedicated section of titles by our Festival sponsor, Nick Hern Books.

Join playwrights and theatre-makers for a lively panel discussion exploring what makes live performance unique in an age of AI-generated content. As powerful technology companies increasingly shape how creative work is consumed, this discussion brings together XXXXXXX to explore the challenges facing the arts today. 

Hosted by our outgoing Associate Playwright, Davey Anderson, this timely conversation invites audiences to think critically about creativity, connection and who gets to shape our cultural future.

Award-winning theatre company Paines Plough presents Come to Where I Am, an hour of storytelling from three incredible Scottish writers: Hannah Lavery (The Things I Do Not Say), Linda McLean (Where I’m From Is Invisible) and Uma Nada-Rajah (Crowbar).

Come and take a seat in the shed. We’ll tell you about where we are, and the places and people who made us.

Brainstorm Café offers writers space to talk through a specific writing problem they have been facing with an experienced playwright. This could be a question about a particular element of a play you are working on, or about writing life in general.

This festival Playwrights' Studio have an opportunity to meet with one of our current associates: Associate Playwright Annie George or Associate Reader Jenna Watt.

Common Wealth - Panel Discussion

This year the Scottish Government passed the Community Wealth Building (Scotland) Act, which means that local authorities have a responsibility to think about how wealth is kept within communities rather than being extracted.

Starting with an imaginative exercise on what this Act could mean for the arts in Scotland, we’ll discuss how community and wealth intersect, what it means for art and audiences in Scotland, and what change for Scotland led by artists could look like.

Join us for a panel discussion with writers, theatre makers and other thinkers.

Widening the Horizons- Scotland's Translators for the Stage

Scotland's rich legacy of stage translations discussed by leading playwrights and translators

A panel event celebrating Scotland's translators of international plays for UK stages. Chaired by Joyce McMillan, and featuring writer-translators Jo Clifford, Liz Lochhead, Alan McKendrick, Katherine Mendelsohn and Mariem Omari, the event will explore the importance of this vibrant aspect of Scottish theatre.

The event is part of a project to build a script archive of 50+years of international plays translated by Scotland-based translators and professionally produced on stages large and small - from the Highlands to the Edinburgh International Festival, at the National Theatres of Scotland and Great Britain, in London’s West End, Dublin, Paris, & at Festival d’Avignon - and to inspire new generations of playwrights, directors and actors to explore this rich seam.

This stage of the project is funded by the Scottish Society of Playwrights and the Edwin Morgan Trust, and supported by Magnetic North and Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland, where the archive will be hosted.
