Gaelic New Writers Awards 2025

Applications are now open for the 2025 Gaelic New Writers Awards, an annual programme offered by the Gaelic Books Council in partnership with Scottish Book Trust.

The awards highlight and nurture some of the most exciting new writing talent in Scotland.  

  • Awardees receive tailored support including a cash bursary, mentoring, a writing retreat, training in Press and PR and the opportunity to showcase their work to publishers and agents. 

  • Awardees will also receive a week-long retreat offering time, space and the freedom to create new work in idyllic surroundings, a place on a three-day Gaelic writing and editing course 

  • The awards are free to apply to and all travel expenses are covered.
