The Scots Language Publication Grant
The Scots Language Publication Grant is currently open for applications.
Funded by the Scottish Government and administered by Scottish Book Trust, the Scots Language Publication Grant was created by the Scots Language Resource Network to support Scottish and UK publishers to publish and promote work written in Scots. The grant is designed to cover publishing costs such as editing, advances, illustrations and cover design, typesetting, printing and marketing.
About the Grant
The grant aims to support publishers seeking assistance with:
Publishing new work, including translated texts
Reprinting existing historical or culturally significant work
Effective marketing and promotion of existing and new work
We would like to particularly encourage applications for genre fiction, including crime, fantasy, romance and science fiction.
We also strongly encourage applications supporting publications by underrepresented groups. This is including but not limited to: writers of colour, disabled writers, LGBTQIA+ writers, those from a low socioeconomic background or who otherwise identify as belonging to a minority group.
Deadline: Midday, Wednesday 2nd September 2026
