About
Give yourself permission to make something new this May.
Play for May is a month‑long access event designed to help playwrights shake free from procrastination and leap into making something new.
Throughout May, we’re creating a space where you can work quickly, instinctively and with support.
This will consist of:
Four short pre‑recorded workshops led by playwright Davey Anderson, released every Monday at 9.30am.
Weekly writing sprints, hosted online every Friday at 1pm.
A final in-person event (including an online option) on Friday 29th May.
Each workshop includes a practical exercise: something to get you writing, making, experimenting and moving forward. The sessions will be available to view throughout May before being taken down at the end of the month.

Writing Workshop
Every Monday at 9.30am we’ll upload a pre-recorded workshop led by playwright Davey Anderson. You can access these below. Sessions will remain online until the end of the month.
Writing Sprints
Every Friday at 1pm, writing sprints are 30 minute online writing sessions where writers can come together to quietly concentrate on their individual work. Hosted online via Zoom.
Final Event
Playwrights’ Studio will host a final in-person event, in Glasgow, where participants have the opportunity to come together to share their experience and connect with fellow writers. There will also be an opportunity to connect online for those who can’t make it in person.
