Play Resource

 

What is it?

It has been a long-held ambition of Playwrights' Studio to develop a Play Resource for Scotland. This would be an accurate, adaptable and accessible resource for all those seeking information on Scottish plays. Through a website, anyone would be able to search the database for information about Scottish plays - whether it be about the play's first production, how large a cast it has, or how to access a script - giving people all over the world a chance to access the wealth of playwriting talent Scotland has to offer.

 

What would be included?

The Play Resource Scotland would include information about new radio or stage plays, produced by professional companies, which are one or more of the following:

  • Written by a writer born or permanently based in Scotland

  • First produced in Scotland

  • Culturally significant to Scotland

  • Adapted for the stage from another medium by a Scottish writer

During 2011, Playwrights' Studio worked with academic partners to scope an online prototype for the Play Resource. We are currently seeking partners and funding to realise our ambitions.
